Being an IT professional in this day and age can be challenging enough, however being an IT professional for a multi-site organization can be overwhelming.
Standardization, streamlining and optimization is the nirvana, achieving this with ever changing demands across not just multiple sites but departments however is not a simple task and one that many organizations shy way from as it seems too complicated or risky.
The reality of continuing to manage multiple IT systems across a number of sites and locations is in fact costlier and poses an even greater risk. Recent Ovum research uncovered three key management challenges for multi-site organizations:
- Lack of consistency across sites
- Silos of knowledge due to lack of collaboration
- Unpredictable and ever increasing costs
In the same study users in multi-site organizations reported the following frustrations with multi-site IT:
- Feeling let down and frustrated
- Low first-touch resolution
- Slow response
So how can these challenges be overcome and how do you avoid complex, costly refreshes across your network of offices, sites or branches? There are practices and tools that organizations can adopt to overcome multi-site IT challenges.
